Chest of drawers ‘Flora’, model 1050, designed by Josef Frank for Svenskt Tenn, Sweden
1930s

Mahogany, hand printed paper & brass handles.

Decoupaged furniture has become a defining feature of Svenskt Tenn's most prestigious offerings. Visible in this piece is Svenskt Tenn's legacy, representing the seamless union of functionality, artistry, and a celebration of nature, with hand printed paper from 'Nordens flora' by C. A Lindman.

The roots of Josef Frank’s iconic Flora chest of drawers trace back to his early experimentation at the Haus & Garten firm in Vienna during the 1930s. Meanwhile, Estrid Ericson, founder of Svenskt Tenn, was exploring her own inspirations. A visit to Carl von Linné’s Hammarby estate in 1930 sparked her fascination with botanical prints, which would go on to shape the brand’s iconic designs.
