Easy Chair designed by Flemming Lassen
Denmark, 1950s

Sheepskin and oak.

Flemming Lassen (1902–1984) was a Danish architect and designer, best known for his contributions to functionalist architecture and his elegantly sculptural furniture.

This Easy Chair, designed by Flemming Lassen exemplifies his approach to furniture that prioritises both sculptural form and deep comfort. Lassen, a key figure in Danish modernism, was known for his ability to create inviting, organic shapes that contrast with the more rigid functionalist designs of his contemporaries.

The curved backrest and gently sloping armrests create an enveloping shape, reminiscent of Lassen’s earlier Tired Man Chair from 1935. The slightly angled back and deep seat encourage relaxation, aligning with his belief that a chair should feel like “a warm embrace."
