Masterpiece London 2019
Modernity is presenting a variety of works by the celebrated Nordic designers Alvar Aalto, Hans J. Wegner, Poul Kjaerholm, Josef Frank, Finn Juhl, Börge Mogensen and Ole Wanscher, among others.
One of the highlights of Modernity’s stand this year is an exceptional cabinet by one of Sweden’s most acclaimed designers, Josef Frank. It is an extremely rare model, decorated with motifs inspired by traditional Japanese landscape paintings.
Two important ceiling fixtures designed by the acclaimed Finnish designer Paavo Tynell are displayed on our booth. One is positioned over a seating group by Kaare Klint, while the other drops over a stunning PK54 table by Poul Kjaerholm.
Finnish design is represented strongly on the right side of the booth, with a rare and remarkable Alvar Aalto chair and a bench designed by Lauri Järveläinen for the Kino-Palatsi cinema in Tampere, Finland. The cinema itself was designed by architect Bertel Strömmer.
Also on display is the exceptional Märta Måås-Fjetterström “FLowerbed” rug, designed in 1944.
