Occasional table ‘The Egyptian Table’ designed by Mogens Lassen for Rud Rasmussen
Denmark, 1935

With this occasional table model, Mogens Lassen created an icon of Scandinavian design. Based on an ancient Egyptian model, the elegant mahogany table folds flat for versatility. This is the rare large version from 1935 and an early production model — it has brass details on the folding legs and end caps on the runners. The elegant lip to the surface resembles a tray. The maker, Rud Rasmussen in Copenhagen, was the leading wooden furniture manufacturer of the time.

Mogens Lassen was a Modernist Danish designer and architect, working within the idiom of the International Style. He was the brother of Flemming Lassen, also a well-known designer and architect.
