Working in a purely geometric, non-figurative style, Sven Hansson was a Swedish painter who is now represented in various collections, including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm. His gouache, oil, and relief pieces throughout the 1970s to late 90s are quietly expressive forms of contemporary art, on occasion using vibrant colour, many examples are executed in pure white and therefore rely on natural light and the resulting shadows.
Hansson pursued his artistic education at Valand's Art School in Gothenburg and further honed his skills under the mentorship of André Lhote at Académie André Lhote in Paris. André Lhote (1885–1962) was a prominent French painter, sculptor, and art teacher known for his significant contributions to Cubism and his role as an influential educator in modern art.
