Set of ten ‘Red Chair’ dining chairs by Kaare Klint
Denmark, 1928

Mahogany and patinated Niger leather.

Originally designed in 1928, the ‘Red Chair’ is one of Kaare Klint’s most iconic creations, embodying his meticulous attention to proportion, materiality, and craftsmanship. This particular set was produced in the 1970s, staying true to Klint’s original specifications and timeless aesthetic.

Crafted from rich mahogany, the chairs are upholstered in patinated Niger leather, which has developed a deep, warm tone over time, enhancing the natural beauty of the material. The clean, angular lines of the wooden frame are balanced by the softness and comfort of the leather upholstery. Brass nail head detailing along the edges adds a refined decorative element, highlighting the craftsmanship and attention to detail that characterise Klint’s work.

The ‘Red Chair’ was originally designed for the Danish Museum of Art & Design and remains a benchmark in modernist furniture design for its blend of classical influences and modern functionalism. Klint’s emphasis on ergonomic comfort and his deep understanding of form and function make these chairs both aesthetically pleasing and practical for daily use.
