Legs in mahogany, upholstered in brown leather.
A rare and refined pair of armchairs by Frits Henningsen, upholstered in richly patinated leather that beautifully showcases the designer’s reverence for natural materials. True to Henningsen’s philosophy, the leather is allowed to speak for itself.
Frits Henningsen (1889–1965) was a Danish master cabinetmaker who insisted on overseeing every stage of production, often within his own workshop. Unlike many of his contemporaries, he remained deeply involved in the making of each piece, selecting materials by hand and maintaining strict standards that left little room for compromise.
A perfectionist by nature, Henningsen’s refusal to delegate ensured that his output remained limited—and exceptional. In an age leaning toward mass production, he remained a steadfast advocate of tradition, choosing craft over convenience and creating furniture with enduring presence and character. These armchairs are a testament to that legacy.
