Lacquered metal and brass.
This particular model is a rare example, designed and produced by Alvar Aalto in 1962 for the Stora Enso head office in Helsinki. Aalto conceived the entire building, incorporating materials like marble, granite, copper, and brass throughout. The piece’s soft oval and cylindrical forms seem intended to offset the building’s geometric character, standing as a gentle contrast within its striking harbour-side setting.
