Kaare Klint (1888–1954), a Danish architect and furniture designer, is celebrated as the father of Scandinavian modernism. He revolutionised design, creating a timeless language that shaped Danish design and made his name synonymous with iconic craftsmanship.
Klint’s focus on clean lines, simple ornamentation, and ergonomic understanding established a balance between form and function that remains influential today. Trained in his father’s architectural practice, he mastered classic realism and proportions, crafting furniture defined by precision and elegance.
Drawing inspiration from global classical design, including Egyptian neoclassicism, Klint’s pieces embody technical perfection within a minimalist aesthetic. His legacy endures both in his architectural and furniture masterpieces and through the generations of students he inspired as a lecturer.
