Description:

Designed by Josef Frank for Svenskt Tenn in the 1950s, this Model 2106 sideboard is crafted from pyramid mahogany with birch edging and brass handles. Its design reflects Frank’s approach to furniture—balancing functionality with a sense of warmth and individuality. Rejecting strict modernism, he favoured organic forms and rich materials, creating pieces that feel both timeless and inviting.

Josef Frank (1885–1967) was an Austrian-Swedish architect and designer, renowned for his contributions to modern design through his work with Svenskt Tenn. Born in Austria, he co-founded the design firm Haus & Garten in Vienna before emigrating to Sweden in the 1930s due to the rise of Nazism. In Sweden, he collaborated with Estrid Ericson at Svenskt Tenn, where he developed a distinctive style that contrasted with the rigid functionalism of early modernism.
