Description:

The Table Lamp Model 2468, designed by Josef Frank in the 1950s, is a distinctive piece often referred to as the "traffic light lamp" due to its three colorful shades. In Frank's original drawing, he envisioned the shades in yellow, red, and green, a design choice that has led to the lamp being affectionately nicknamed the "traffic light lamp."

Josef Frank’s lighting designs reflect his philosophy of creating interiors that are both functional and uplifting. His lamps are characterised by elegant proportions, high-quality materials, and a sense of playfulness that sets them apart from the rigid modernist styles of his time. Frank believed that lighting should contribute to a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, rather than adhere to strict minimalism.

Josef Frank (1885–1967) was an Austrian-Swedish architect and designer who became a key figure in modern Scandinavian design. Born in Austria, he initially worked as an architect before fleeing to Sweden in the 1930s due to rising antisemitism. There, he joined Svenskt Tenn, where his bold use of colour, pattern, and organic forms contrasted with strict modernism. Frank’s designs, from furniture to lighting and textiles, emphasised comfort and personal expression. His legacy endures as a pioneer who shaped Swedish design, blending elegance with a playful, human touch.
